This Easter weekend we are providing hundreds of mostly military families in a hard-hit community in North Carolina with meals. For the volunteers on the ground, it feels very much like a miracle of God's provision as they had just ran out of supplies (see below for all the details).
This is such a critical time. Mercy Chefs is expanding into about a dozen communities. I expect we'll provide 30,000-40,000 meals over the next week alone. And my phone keeps ringing! We urgently need the help of every Mercy Chefs friend. Go here to make your best tax-deductible gift to help Mercy Chefs provide tens of thousands of meals during this crisis, and see below for more details.
As I shared with you yesterday, the Lord is opening doors for Mercy Chefs to expand our coronavirus crisis response into several more communities.
But in the past 24 hours, it feels like everything went to another level.
For starters, tomorrow morning we'll reach 40,000 meals provided. That total could double again within a week as we expand to these new communities.
Then this happened...
+ + An Easter food miracle...
Yesterday, our team was on a video chat with good folks in Hoke County, North Carolina -- near Fort Bragg military base -- home to many military families. This community has been hit extremely hard by the coronavirus crisis. Military personnel are on lockdown on the base, separated from their families. Many working spouses have lost their jobs, and since the base is locked down they can't access the Commissary. And there's no Walmart or Sam's Club nearby -- just a small local grocery store.
As we shared our plan to help get nutritious meals to their community, many in the center started crying. Turns out, they had just boxed up the last groceries they had, and they were facing the reality of a very difficult Easter for hundreds of families in their community. They were praying for God to provide when our phone call came.
They couldn't believe the faithfulness of the Lord to provide precisely at their community's urgent point of need. Trust me when I tell you there wasn't a dry eye on our end of the line either!
Because of friends like you, about 400 families -- many of them spouses and children of our nation's military -- will have everything they need for nutritious and delicious meals this Easter weekend! The first meal provision will take place tomorrow!
+ + I need your help
This is precisely why Mercy Chefs exists -- to feed body and soul and reach folks with nutritious meals at their urgent point of need.
Now, I need your help. We just added two more locations. By next week, I expect that we'll be facilitating meals in a dozen or more locations. The need right now is as critical as I've seen it and I want to do everything we can to provide as many meals to as many people as possible.
Can I count on your help right now so Mercy Chefs can reach hurting families with nutritious meals during this coronavirus crisis while we continue other vital efforts? Go here to make your tax-deductible gift directly to Mercy Chefs:
Again, we just added two more locations. And the phone keeps ringing. I want to answer every call for help, but my budget for this outreach has already DOUBLED this week.
Finally, PLEASE PRAY for our Mercy Chefs team. We covet your prayers. The need right now is almost overwhelming and we expect it to get worse over the next three weeks. Pray for wisdom, strength, and protection. And pray that we will remain in the very center of what the Lord has planned for Mercy Chefs at this crucial time in our nation's history.
Thank you in advance for your financial help right now. And thank you for your ongoing prayers.
Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs
