Thursday, July 28 Ukraine Update:
Five months ago TODAY -- just days after Russia first invaded Ukraine -- I contacted our Mercy Chefs friends to let you know that my wife, Ann, and I were headed to the Romania-Ukraine border to see how Mercy Chefs could help the people of Ukraine.
Below, I've included that message from February 28 of this year. At that time, I had no idea that the scope of our mission would extend across five months and over 2.7 million pounds of food delivered to refugees, orphanages and hurting Ukrainians all the way to the frontlines of this war.
As I noted to you earlier this week, with millions returning to Ukraine it is quite possible that the need inside the country is greater today than it was a few months ago. That's why I'm asking for your help today...
As we embark on our sixth month of Ukraine relief, will you partner with Mercy Chefs to help deliver another 100,000 pounds of food and supplies this week to hurting Ukrainians? Go here to make your tax-deductible gift:
Finally, thanks to every friend of Mercy Chefs who has prayed and generously contributed to these relief efforts. Support from you and others has made possible every pound of food and every meal we have provided.

I'm headed to the Ukraine border to help feed the refugees. We need help today. Please see below. --Gary
Today, Ann and I are flying to Romania and will then be traveling to the Romania-Ukraine border where a serious refugee crisis is unfolding as I write.
Tens upon hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians are fleeing to the countries to the east and south of Ukraine. Romania sits on the southeast border of Ukraine -- directly in the path of the flight of the refugees. Right now, there is a 20+ mile long line of cars working to cross the border -- mostly women, children and the elderly. Local pastors and missionaries are doing everything they can to provide basic necessities -- food, water, hygiene products, diapers, etc. But it's an uphill battle.
Mercy Chefs has been in contact with our international response partners since shortly after the war started. We will have "boots on the ground" TODAY providing food and water to the refugees who are fleeing for their lives from Ukraine. One of our lead chefs will be joining the effort tomorrow. Ann and I will be working to determine our next steps: a field kitchen, grocery distribution -- whatever is needed to meet this critical need that is likely to only get worse.
This is a HUMANITARIAN CRISIS and we need your help TODAY as we launch our relief efforts for Ukraine refugees. Please HELP us feed Ukraine refugees! GO HERE:
I'm going to the Ukrainian border because it's what I am called to do. I feed people.
I do not do war. I feed people.
I do not do politics. I feed people.
I do not make excuses. I just go feed people.
I call on you to join me in praying for the people of the Ukraine. And I humbly ask you to join with me by supporting Mercy Chefs' efforts to feed the victims and refugees now pouring out of the Ukraine.
Thanks in advance, and God bless,
Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs
P.S. I'll have more details tomorrow. But right now, we need your help! Please help us bring relief to those fleeing for their lives from Ukraine. Go here:
