Over the weekend, we served our 75,000th meal since our redeployment earlier this month to Eastern Kentucky.
When Sen. Rand Paul's office called and asked us to help meet what has become a critical need in this flood-devastated region, we really didn't know what to expect. We prepared for 2,000 or so meals a day, but almost immediately, the demand was more than double our expectations.
Once word spread, people were lining up for HOURS in their cars, waiting on hot meals. The lines continued for days and so has the demand. Yesterday, we served another 5,000 meals to the folks here.
We certainly could use your help as we serve thousands more meals today. If you'd like to sponsor 10, 20, 50 or even 100 meals we'll be serving over the next 24 hours, go here:
While we continue to meet this immediate need, I have been in contact with state officials to see if there is an opportunity for an even longer term recovery effort to this region that would be spearheaded by Mercy Chefs. I will let you know how that develops.
For now, thank you for your prayers and your continued support.
Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs
