As I write, our Mercy Chefs team on the Florida Panhandle is transitioning to the next major phase of our redeployment to help this community recover from the devastating Category Five hurricane last fall.
Beginning in just two weeks, our team will move from our summer "Beacon Of Hope" efforts to a special outreach to provide meals and support to the most at-risk kids in this community. As I've noted, an estimated 5,000 children were suddenly left homeless as a result of Hurricane Michael. Many are still without a permanent place to sleep. As these kids return to school, we've been asked to partner with the school district to ensure these kids who represent the most vulnerable in this community have reliable, hot, nutritious meals.
We are also working on educational programs while we continue to support work team still assisting with reconstruction efforts.
This is a MAJOR financial commitment on the part of Mercy Chefs. I am determined to keep our team here for the long haul, but to do so we need faithful friends like you to come alongside us and help.
Can I count on your partnership as we prepare to launch this important, new effort to provide thousands of meals this fall to hurting kids and continue the work of healing in this community? Go here to make your tax-deductible gift to help Mercy Chefs in Florida and to continue other vital efforts:
The challenge here is that the devastation was so extensive that many are still struggling with the basics of food and shelter. Forty percent of the buildings were still uninhabitable months after the storm hit. An estimated 5,000 children still have no permanent place to call home. Seventy-two million tons of debris was created, much of which is still causing a health and safety hazard.
But we are seeing God do amazing things through your generosity! Story after story of changed lives. We've served TENS OF THOUSANDS of meals on the Florida Panhandle, and Mercy Chefs' efforts have put as at the epicenter of a very important and very difficult rebuilding and healing process.
I can't leave now. We must stay with these good people and help them through the next several months -- especially for the sake of the most vulnerable children who still lack access to food and a permanent place to call home.
Thank you so much for your prayers, and thanks for your ongoing financial partnership. God bless you!

P.S. It costs about $2.50 to serve a meal. Perhaps you can sponsor 20 meals ($50), 40 meals ($100), or more. Thank you so much! Go here:
