Meals for disaster victims

This past weekend, our Mercy Chefs teams served holiday meals to two communities here in the U.S. that were hardest hit by natural disasters this year.

On Saturday, Texas Managing Chef Jay Bachman (pictured here) and his team were back in Beaumont, TX where we deployed after Tropical Storm Imelda flooded much of the area in September.

It was an honor to return to the Beaumont Dream Center and the surrounding neighborhoods to serve this recovering community. Chef Bachman's team prepared and served a beautiful and delicious holiday meal -- made possible by friends like you.

And on Sunday, our Virginia-based community kitchen team visited Ocracoke, North Carolina, to support this community that was one of the areas in the U.S. that was devastated by Hurricane Dorian. The folks there were so grateful to have Mercy Chefs on hand to stand with their community as they continue on the path of recovery.

It was amazing to see just how high the water rose. Yet the people are resilient. They are standing in faith and standing together -- and grateful for the support of caring folks across the country who helped Mercy Chefs make these meals possible.

This is just the start of our Mercy Chefs Holiday Meals outreach. Our team will be serving hot, holiday meals in the coming week, leading up to two major Christmas outreaches in Panama City, Florida, and on Grand Bahama Island in the Bahamas. Because these holiday meals include the full trimmings, the cost is about $5 per person. We still need your help to get these meals served this holiday season!

Will you partner with us to sponsor 10 holiday meals ($50), or perhaps 20 ($100), or even 100 ($500)? Go here to make your tax-deductible gift:

Sadly, for many the holiday season can be dark and lonely. Especially for those still reeling from a natural disaster, when Mercy Chefs arrives with a full Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner, it is as if a great weight has been lifted off of a community's collective shoulders. The smiles we see on the faces of those who are on the receiving end of the meals friends like you provide is all the reward we need.

Thank you for your prayers. And thank you for your partnership!

God bless you!

P.S. We'll be hosting an all-community Christmas dinner in Panama City. And our team will be on the ground for a full week on Grand Bahama Island providing meals for a series of very important Christmas events for the folks there where unemployment is still 80% and fresh water is scarce. Your tax-deductible gift will make a real difference in hurting people's lives this holiday season! Go here:

P.P.S. As a reminder, I have been selected as one of six finalists for the 2020 Eagle Rare Life Award. The winner of the award will be decided by the results of an online poll, with the charity of the winner's choice (in my case, Mercy Chefs!) receiving a $50,000 donation -- but I need your votes!
