We finished up our trip to Panama City and I have some great news...
We effectively have the "keys" to the school and kitchen
the city is allowing us to use for our "Beacon Of Hope" efforts this summer! I have been amazed at the amount of favor God has given us with this community. From city leaders to church leaders to folks we meet in the streets, we are being welcomed back with open arms. These people are desperate for help, and they trust that our Mercy Chefs teams will combine real compassion with excellent meals for their hurting community.
Now, I have a challenge!
In just two weeks, I need to have our Mercy Chefs team members on site beginning preparation for a launch on June 1. There is much work to be done. First, we must do some repairs to the kitchen area from damage that is remaining from the storm. Then, we have to get the kitchen ready to produce thousands of meals for hurricane victims -- focusing on the 5,000+ children who have been left homeless by the storm. We also have to convert some of the classroom space to sleeping quarters -- bunkhouses for up to 80 volunteers and mission workers who will be coming to help with ongoing restoration efforts.
Our Beacon Of Hope will be a base of restoration, healing and hot meals for thousands in this community. But I must get moving immediately!
Specifically, we need $30,000 in the next two weeks to keep us on track and ensure that we are ready to house our volunteers and serve meals on June 1 (one month from today!).
Can I count on your help?
We have the "keys" to facility that will soon become our "Beacon Of Hope" base of operations. Now, I must move quickly to get the facility operational. Please go here to partner with Mercy Chefs to bring relief to Panama City and continue other vital efforts:
This is a massive outreach -- one of the largest post-disaster redeployments in our history. Our "Beacon Of Hope" center will serve thousands of meals every week to disaster victims and kids left homeless by the storm. We'll also provide a place for volunteer teams who will be coming this summer to continue the work of cleanup and restoration.
But we must get moving immediately! In two weeks, we'll have our team on the ground preparing the facility. In just four weeks, we'll serve our first of thousands of meals.
Thanks in advance for your help, and God bless you!

P.S. Just yesterday, we heard from a woman in Panama City who has been helped by Mercy Chefs. I share her words with you because friends like you are the ones who deserve the thanks. Every meal we serve is directly connected to the generosity of friends like you. Thank you so much!
"Mercy Chefs has done more for our area than any other charity I can think of. I’ve never needed a handout, always made my own way, but after the storm, we were broken like the rest of the city. You kept our spirits up and our stomachs fed. While we spent long days and nights putting our homes back together you fed us. You don’t know what a relief it was to stop at the end of the day and know dinner was waiting with friends and spiritual blessings. Thank you!!!"
